We are very aware that a nursery’s best asset is its staff team and at KCP, we are proud to have a dedicated, experienced and qualified team who genuinely care for and enjoy the company of the children. OFSTED commented: “Staff clearly enjoy the company of the children in their care and spend time talking to them, laughing and playing with them”.
All staff undertake regular training, ensuring that they are kept up to date with the latest regulations and requirements, allowing us to offer the best possible service for all the children in our care. Modern apprentices and students will be working under the close supervision of our qualified staff at all times. Our lunchtime and bank staff who cover staff shortages and breaks are either qualified staff or experienced mums themselves.
Outdoor play is an important part of the philosophy at KCP, and we try to ensure that all children experience a wide range of outdoor play experiences. Being outdoors has a positive impact on a child’s sense of wellbeing and helps all aspects of children’s development. It offers opportunities for doing things in different ways and on different scales than when indoors. It gives children first-hand contact with weather, seasons and the natural world. Outdoor environments offer children freedom to explore, use their senses, and be physically active and exuberant.- The Early Years Foundation Stage. OFSTED commented: “Staff have truly embraced the idea of the outdoor classroom and this has been further stimulated by the development of the Forest School initiative”.
We offer additional activities to the children these include:
Creative story telling with music and movement – the children take part in regular sessions where they act out the story to music and movement.
Cooking: children take part in regular cooking sessions sometimes making things to take home and share other times they may make their own ‘snack’.
Yoga and mindfulness: children take part in simple yoga and mindfulness sessions helping them learn the value of ‘me’ time.
French; the older children are introduced to the concept of different languages by teaching them numbers, colours etc
