The Tiny Developers room is set up with a safe and secure area for the very young, offering lots of opportunities for sensory and messy play.
The activities offered are planned in accordance with the EYFS and will meet all the children’s individual needs, whilst making sure they are stimulated, challenged, and entertained.
The children have access to a secure outdoor play area, a natural learning environment “Twiglets”, and a covered deck to allow for outdoor play, even when it is wet and cold outside.
The children receive well-balanced healthy meals which are cooked on-site; we are able to follow parents’/carers wishes when it comes to weaning needs to ensure we meet the individual family’s wishes.
The ratio in this room is 1 adult to every 3 children.
Age range 3mths – 20mths (this is a guide and children move through to toddlers when they are developmentally ready).
The Mini Explorers room is for children from approximately 2 years.
The staff work with the children’s interests to an exciting and varied range of activities in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
This is based around the concept of the “unique child” and “enabling environment” which simply means that staff will develop close relationships with each child, getting to know their individual personalities and interests and ensuring activities are designed to encourage children to develop freely and achieve their full potential.
The children have access to a secure outdoor play area including a covered sandpit, climbing slide, playhouse, and a natural learning environment “Twiglets”, where they can enjoy activities such as painting with mud and looking for bugs and worms!
There is also a covered deck to allow for outdoor play even when it is wet and cold outside.
Some children may show an interest in using the toilet or potty whilst in this room. Staff will work closely with parents/carers to support this stage of development. We have an information sheet available on toilet training and staff are happy to offer help and advice, but it is something that needs to be developed at home and at nursery.
The ratio in this room is 1 adult to every 4 children.
Age range: 28mths – 36mths – this is a guide and children move through to Nursery Class when they are developmentally ready.
Independence skills really start to develop in this room. Our Little Adventurers have free access to the bathroom and are encouraged to try activities themselves such as hand washing, pouring drinks, putting coats and shoes on etc.
The staff work with the children’s interests to deliver an exciting and varied range of activities in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Additionally, we make full use of our outside area. Our Little Adventurers have their own secure garden, as well as the opportunity to experience Forest School/Twiglet sessions where they take part in activities such as mud painting, digging for worms, making mud pies and much more.
The ratio in this room is 1 adult to every 4 children for under 3’s and 1 adult to every 8 children for over 3’s.

Our Young Investigators room is about getting our children ready for their next step – school.
We follow the curriculum guidance set down in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which is divided into seven areas of learning.
Three Prime areas: personal, social and emotional development; communication and language; physical development.
Four Specific areas: literacy; maths; knowledge and understanding the world; expressive art and design.
We deliver this through an enabling environment that is designed to engage and enthuse children’s learning, along with skilled staff who can support, extend and scaffold learning through good role models.
We have regular newsletters which explain the activities planned for your child. They will provide ideas for activities that you can do at home to enhance your child’s learning.
Children take part in regular Forest School sessions which are led by Ann Veal and Paula Aspinall, who are both experienced Forest School trained leaders.
