The staff at KCP are all aware of the importance of child health and wellbeing, meals are prepared on site by our nursery chief and are nutritious, well balanced and cater for dietary needs. The children have lots of opportunities for outdoor play, in our lovely rural setting being able to see first-hand the awe and wonder of the natural world around them. We support the children’s mental health and well-being by introducing them to simple mindfulness activities such as lying down on a blanket and watching the clouds.
Mealtimes are a social time when staff sit and talk to the children about their day whilst encouraging good table manners.
The children will be offered enjoyable nutritious food, which caters for their individual dietary needs.
Forest School originates in Scandinavia where outdoor living and learning is fully embedded in society. Forest School arrived in the UK in 1993 and has been adopted by hundreds of practitioners who are constantly developing their skills to support and build resilient and imaginative learners.
The children experience activities such as den building, bug hunting, mud painting as well as well supervised toasting marshmallows on the campfire.
The safety of the children in our care is paramount all staff are DBS checked and have regular Child Protection training as well as all staff being qualified in paediatric 1st Aid. We have a finger print entry system and secure outdoor play areas, and carry out regular risk assessments to ensure every child is safe and protected.
